Narrative

Humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature. Our urge to relate with other forms of life builds lasting connections that encourage growth within us. This growth is projected within natural life and their tendency to naturalise together, responding to such connections in similar ways to humans.

The initial contrast between men, manmade, and nature becomes more alike through observations that reveal naturally inspired architectural forms; something man-made with a purpose of longevity and safety influenced by something delicate, impermanent, and with a finite lifecycle. Although opposites, this physical cooperation with the natural environment is vital to humankind's survival.

Biophilic design reduces stress, enhances creativity and clarity of thought, improving our well-being by being connected with nature. It is essential for providing people with opportunities to live and work in spaces that facilitate greater overall health and well-being. Ensuring the biophilic design stimulates positive sensory reactions through the tactile experience of the software will strengthen this relationship between man and the natural environment. As a result, transforming the powerful and unassailable into that of calmness and softness.

For this live brief project, I was asked to bring into fruition a story fitting with the theme 'Sensational Depth'. The outcome requirements from the client, Rolls Royce, were three portfolio boards demonstrating the collection, its development and its supporting research, as well as final samples for a curtain, picnic table, and gallery space within the Phantom vehicle.
