Pattern with a Story

Narrative

Illustrating the paths and travels of the information within such objects was an idea that sparked my interests and resonated with me and my personal life.

Like the self, these objects conduct, experience, and participate in multiple activities, throughout their usage and existence, that become crucial to their function, but remain out of sight and underappreciated.

I believe that our experiences, good, bad, or ugly, shape who we are as people, friends, and family. This is also a concept I am certain applies to these ubiquitous objects and their contribution to life as we know it.

Crossing Paths

To accompany my sketchbook, portfolio pages, and samples, I created a manual for this project. Much like the manuals looked at for the inspiration of this project, this manual explains the design thinking process throughout this project; getting to know me, the designer, the same way you get to know an appliance or home object.

The manual explains why and how the patterns arose, their relationship with the ubiquitous object, and what these objects mean to me - a design manifesto.
